Replacing the previously advertised programme, Petworth Festival teams up with Midhurst’s Jazz, Food & Blues Festival to present an evening of memorable music making and unbelievable quality.
An all-star quartet of musicians - Lizzie Ball (violin & vocals) James Pearson (piano), Misha Mullov-Abbado (bass) and Matt Skelton (drums) - celebrate the music of the inimitable George Gershwin, and some of his fellow composers who influenced his unique and enduring style.
Covering the vibrant artistic scenes of early 20th century Paris, London, and New York, the programme includes music and arrangements by Heifetz, Ravel, Kreisler, Gershwin, Bernstein, Britten, Copland, and Pearson. In addition, they will explore how Gershwin’s legacy had a direct impact on both classical and jazz artists alike, including Stephane Grappelli and Yehudi Menuhin.
The Venue
As well as individual raked seating on this occasion the venue offers 12 exclusive tables for groups of six and include a drinks package featuring 2 bottles of wine, 1 sparkling water, 1 still water, and 6 beers. Choose from red, white, or sparkling wine, carefully selected by our team. During the interval, you'll also have the opportunity to purchase additional drinks from the bar to enjoy at your table.
ANNOUNCEMENT
We are sorry to report that the festival has been badly let down by two food suppliers who gave us only a few hours' notice - despite being booked for months - that they will not be at Midhurst Rother College for the shows this week. This is deeply frustrating for us all and we are sorry that you may be inconvenienced.
We have tried our best to find replacement suppliers for Thursday and Friday evenings but unfortunately - given the time of year and the very short notice - without success.
The Festival and Langhams bars will be in full flow with Park & Co offering quality coffee and delicious cookies!
