Replacing the previously advertised programme, Petworth Festival teams up with Midhurst’s Jazz, Food & Blues Festival to present an evening of memorable music making and unbelievable quality.

An all-star quartet of musicians - Lizzie Ball (violin & vocals) James Pearson (piano), Mischa Mullov-Abbado (bass) and Matt Skelton (drums) - celebrate the music of the inimitable George Gershwin, and some of his fellow composers who influenced his unique and enduring style.

Covering the vibrant artistic scenes of early 20th century Paris, London, and New York, the programme includes music and arrangements by Heifetz, Ravel, Kreisler, Gershwin, Bernstein, Britten, Copland, and Pearson. In addition, they will explore how Gershwin’s legacy had a direct impact on both classical and jazz artists alike, including Stephane Grappelli and Yehudi Menuhin.
