In a year where we particularly celebrate the instrument that has the closest affinity to the human voice, we welcome Cellophonics, four of the UK’s leading orchestra cellists who came together to explore the contrasting characteristics of their instrument. From the operatic tones of Puccini’s ‘Tosca’, to the driving rhythms of ‘jazz lord’ Guy Barker’s especially commissioned ‘Wood on the Tracks’ and with a myriad of stops along the way, an hour in their company promises an eclectic and joyous musical journey

Christopher Allan plays regularly with the Britten Sinfonia and is co-principal cello with the Orchestra of the Swan;

Naomi Watts is a member of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. She is a big advocate for the healing capacity of music and has taken part in workshops for stroke recovery, depression, dementia and played in ‘sound healing’ sessions.

Tim Lowe spends much of his time playing solo and chamber recitals throughout the UK and Europe. As an orchestral player, he is Guest Principal Cello with many major UK leading orchestras including the English Chamber Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, and the Sinfonia of London.

Ben Rogerson is a member of the BBC Concert Orchestra and the London Mozart Players.

‘Virtuosity, imagination and superb musicianship, all packaged up by four multi-talented ‘cellists, glued together by their obvious friendship, camaraderie and love of the ‘cello.’
