Born in Alexandria Egypt to Jewish refugee parents, Margaret Hodge was first elected to public office in the UK in 1973. Elevated to the House of Lords in 2024 she has seen high office in her 50-year career as a politician and served in the governments of both Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. Most recently she served as the Chair of Parliament’s influential Public Accounts Committee. In her new memoir Hodge delivers a characteristically forthright and engaging account of all the battles - both political and personal - that she has been involved in over the decades.
