Dominika Mak - Pianist
Dominika Mak is a Polish classical pianist pursuing her Professional Diploma at the Royal Academy of Music in London (2025–26) studying with Christopher Elton and David Gray, supported by Help Musicians UK.
Dominika is graduating with Distinction from a Master of Arts in Solo Piano Performance at RAM, studying under Professor Emeritus Christopher Elton and Stephen Devine (harpsichord), supported by the Help Musicians UK Myra Hess Award. She previously read Music at Trinity College, Cambridge, where she completed both her BA and MPhil, and was active as a soloist, scholar, and ensemble musician. During her time there, she served as Artistic Director of the Trinity College Music Society, sang as a soprano in the renowned Trinity College Choir under Stephen Layton OBE, and developed a keen interest in collaborative performance and musicological research into Chopin’s music.
Dominika has received guidance from distinguished pianists including Pascal Nemirovski (Royal Birmingham Conservatoire), Graham Caskie (Chetham’s School of Music), and masterclasses with Stephen Hough, Anne Queffélec, Yevgeny Sudbin, Katya Apekisheva, Wojciech Switała, and others. She is a laureate of numerous awards including the National EPTA Competition, Edith Leigh Prize, Birmingham Conservatoire John Ireland Prize, and the OxCamb Music Prize. Recent highlights include performances of Chopin’s Concerto in F minor Op. 21 with Philip Howie and the CGO, a complete cycle of the Preludes Op. 28, and the Sonata in B minor Op. 58. A passionate advocate for Polish repertoire, Dominika frequently programmes works by Szymanowski and Bacewicz alongside her exploration of French composers from Rameau to Ravel. She has performed at venues including St John’s Smith Square, St Martin-in-the-Fields, St Mary’s Perivale, West Road Concert Hall (Cambridge), and the London POSK Chopin Gala. Forthcoming engagements include Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Isle of jeMan Symphony Orchestra and a recital at the Lyceum Club in Florence.
A committed chamber musician, Dominika was a scholar on the Arthur Bliss Lieder Scheme, working closely with Joseph Middleton and baritone Florian Störtz. She also held the Instrumental Award and Choral Scholarships at Cambridge, leading to performances including Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem with Trinity College Choir and The Holst Singers with Stephen Layton She has been selected for masterclasses with Adrian Brendel, Simon Lepper, Maria Wloszczowska, Arto Noras, So-Ock Kim, and others.
Dominika holds the Help Musicians UK Myra Hess Award for 2024-25. She was also a participant in the 2025 Polish National Chopin Competition and a finalist in the Yamaha Music Scholarship. She is currently writing a play about Chopin’s winter in Majorca inspired by his Preludes Op. 28.
