Matthew Barley - cello, UK                   Hanna Rynnänen – kantele, Finland               Dawda Jobarteh – kora, Gambia      Adriano Adewale - berimbau & percussion, Brazil

The repertoire will include new compositions, arrangements of dances and lullabies from UK, Finland, Brazil and Gambia and ‘designed improvisations*’.

The lullabies will explore the dark side that so many of them feature – and the grooves and dances will provide the antidotal celebration. The designed improvisations will connect them and provide a sense of a narrative journey through the concert.

‘Cellist Matthew Barley has long been shaking up the classical scene with his collaborations and inventive approaches to performance.’ BBC Music Magazine
